I can hardly swim

Walking is good to stay fit, power walking is better. Knowing is one thing changing your life style to do it is another. Running, if you are still young enough to learn, is best but its impact on your body is 3 times as large than walking.

I could swim when I was young. I remember ever since I learned the basics I could swim up to a kilometer continuously almost. At beaches I could swim back and forth the pontoon (floating platform) a few times.

Really I can't recall for how many years I have not seriously swam in an Olympic pool, perhaps 25 or more!

I have recently joined a recreation club near to my office. My plan was to swim for half an hour during lunch time twice every week instead of running in the morning. It's really too hot in summer to run even at 6:30am in the morning.

200 meters was the best I could do this week, poor me, very disappointing!

My phone has gone

I got my Nokia 6300 less than 2 years ago. I must have left it in a restaurant last Saturday.

I'm lucky to have kept this very old one at home.

Yahoo! Mail Plus

Now I don't enjoy below since I have not renewed my account with them.

  • Your message size has been reduced to 10MB. You cannot send or receive messages that exceed this limit.

  • You cannot use a POP3 email client (Outlook, Eudora, etc.) to access and manage your Yahoo! Mail.

  • You cannot forward your Yahoo! Mail automatically to another email account.

  • You can no longer use some of the advanced protection features including: AddressGuard and SpamGuard Plus.

  • The number of filters on your account has been reduced from 50 to 15. Filters in excess of this limit have been deleted.

  • Your Yahoo! Mail pages contain graphical ads.

  • Your outgoing email messages include promotional taglines.

Never mind I use Gmail most of the time anyway.

Windows 7 RC

Now I'm playing with it. If you want better download experience use IE7 or IE8 (sorry IE6 no good). If you insist on FF like me you'll be downloading Java download manager like below first.

java_download

then you'll see this

start_downloading

depending on, I believe, your connection/reception speed the number of connections will vary. In the office I had 1~2 at home I had up to 4. The total download took less than 3 hours at home.

Installation took around 30 minutes depending on your hardware, don't forget to keep record of below as you may have to install it again later.

Wireless Broadband

Ubuntu 9.04 is the latest available since 26 April. I have just tried this at home.

The installer is little prettier and the default font looks a lot better than before. The best news to me is the native support of wireless broadband.

First you add a new connection below then edit it.

3_connection

then you'll have to amend the APN, don't forget to check the box 'connect automatically'.

You could also follow the wizard below and select from the list of providers available which should pop out by the time you plug in your USB modem.

If you are like me who subscribed to 3reedom then you'll be on your own and don't expect any technical support from them.

I recently went to their shop to ask for help they just keep asking me to dial their customer hotline. A simple quiz below can you tell what number to press to reach their customer service?

Picture 2

I said I couldn't find any from their hotline operation guide above then he gave me a string of numbers.

[Edited: answer to the quiz = press 1 - # - 5 - 8 - 2. In fact # is for non-customer so I wouldn't have thought about trying that route. 1 - # - 5 - 8 would take you to human voice, the guide above is wrong because there is no such thing as 'technical support' from the voice I hear. My conclusion is that if you are existing customers they simply don't care.]
